How To Help Abducted Children and Chasing Parents

For any parent facing the nightmare of international parental child abduction, the financial resources needed in order to mount a recovery effort are enormous.

In The United States, there presently exists no governmental financial assistance for a Chasing Parent attempting to locate and bring home their abducted child when a child is stolen from one parent by the other and removed across the country's borders even though this act is a crime under both Federal and State law. Furthermore, though there are very moderate funds available to assist Chasing Parents reunite with their stolen child after a foreign court issues a decree for the return of the abducted child, such funds are limited, and there are many restrictions on accessing these monies.

As you can imagine, the financial burdens are incredible. In many cases, a Chasing Parent must hire a lawyer in their local jurisdiction as well as a lawyer in the jurisdiction that they believe their child or children were abducted to (in the case of international parental child abduction, a parent possessing sole custody of a child cannot simply go to the country that the child is located and take the child back home).  In addition, and in most cases, the services of a private investigator or a team of investigators is needed. And as you can imagine, when there is no trace of where the child is located, tracking and search team services are required - and they are expensive.  Now consider the fact that attempting to recover a stolen child is more than a full-time job. Add in the cost of all communications, travel, etc., and the picture you will paint is a very bleak one.

To put it bluntly, the financial burden on a Chasing Parent is overwhelming for most. And most lawyers who represent child abductors know that the longer they draw things out in court, the more likely it is that the Chasing Parent will be limited in continuing their legal action. What they do is implement enough stall tactics to wear the Chasing Parent down.

If you can help any of the below listed Not For Profit organizations, please do so. After all, you are actually helping a defenseless, victimized child.

In The United States, please contribute to The National Center For Missing and Exploited Children. The NCMEC can be reached at 1-800-THE-LOST. Their website is: www.missingkids.com.

In Canada, please contribute to The Missing Children Society of Canada. The MCSC can be reached at 800.661.6160. Their website is: www.mcsc.ca.

There are many other good organizations out there dedicated to assisting victimized children. They, similar to all Chasing Parents, are reliant upon your generous charitable giving. Any support that you can provide to any of these organizations are helpful. So please give, and give as generously as you can. Lastly, please note that I am dedicating all author proceeds derived from the book sales of Chasing The Cyclone to assist Chasing Parents attempting to reunite with their child or children.

Thanks,
